Tuesday

Another warm and dry day with plenty of sunshine and the Magic Garden is looking fabulous. I am so pleased with my sweet peas this year and continue to pick them to ensure their continued blooming. Their scent is all through the house. I have cropped more broad beans, a cauliflower and kale and am looking forward to my courgettes, cucumbers and tomatoes which are all looking promising.

Sunday

Hot (by NE England standards) and dry! The bees are happy and I had a lovely day in the Magic Garden. Ben was out most of the day with me.

Wednesday

Only a few moments in the Magic Garden today as I had a long day at work. Having been dry all day it inevitably decided to start raining when I stood outside. I picked some more sweetpeas and admire the blackberries that are coming. I noticed that the rosemary beetles have moved on to the sage.

Tuesday

We’ve had a lovely sunny day! Ben and I enjoyed an afternoon in the Magic Garden watching the bees & birds. I’ve harvested the first tomato of the year!

Sunday

I’ve been quite busy in the Magic Garden and have grubby finger nails to prove it! I picked more raspberries & blackcurrants & am optimistic for a handful more of blueberries. I’m really pleased with how it all looks. The wildflower patch is gradually becoming established with self-seeding across the garden

Sunday

Although we’ve had showers today I was determined to get some bits and pieces done in the Magic Garden. I planted out the last of the snapdragons and the first of the Bishop’s children dahlias. I await the results of the snails and slugs in the next 24 hours! I have harvested some more rhubarb, blackcurrants and raspberries and the first of the blueberries. I also planted out another rescued fuchsia from B&Q that is blooming its heart out and a Brunnera macrophylla JackFrost.

Saturday

Yet another wet day! Ben sat in the arbour chair while I was in the summerhouse. The view from the window in the summerhouse is very pretty at the moment

Thursday

We had a bit of dry weather this afternoon and the insects were out making the most of it. Ben tried to find a sun puddle while keeping me within his sights.

Tuesday

It has been incredibly wet again. I feel sorry for the birds & am keeping the bird feeders full as I worry about the lack of insects for them. The rain drops make for interesting photography with the allium heads and rowan berries & a couple of spider webs.

Monday

Home from work promptly and a few moments to take pride in the produce coming from the Magic Garden with soft fruit, apples and cauliflowers today and more broad beans & broccoli.

Sunday

We’ve been having thunderstorms today following on gales during the week and the Magic Garden is consequently looking a bit battered. I’ve done some work in the front garden today which is growing away well too.

Monday

Tonight the Magic Garden had just received a shower. The magpies were enjoying the fat balls although Ben was uncertain that he should allow their presence. Two adults and 2 youngsters and the whole family were present and chattering.

Back Home Again!

I’ve been away again this week to London including a visit to Kew. It’s good to be back though and I have spent an afternoon cutting back the overgrowth in the Magic Garden and enjoying how beautiful it looks. The sweet peas are really getting going now and the monkshood are providing the blues and whites in the rest of the Magic area.

Back Home

I’ve been away a few days - just in time to miss the good weather! The sun has brought out more blooms including dianthus I didn’t remember planting! The bees are busy and Ben is just happy I’m home.
